Microbiological Testing
Microbiological testing in cosmetic products is an important parameter of product safety. The microbiological quality of raw materials, bulk products and formulated final cosmetic products should be determined within the scope of the “Cosmetics Regulation”.
First of all, test and analysis steps in cosmetic products; A risk analysis should be made based on the user type, application area, pathogenic effects of possible microorganisms, and possible chemical changes.
Within the scope of the "Guideline on Microbiological Control of Cosmetic Products", we can list the microorganisms that should not be in a cosmetic product as follows:
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Candida albicans
- Escherichia coli
Cosmetic products are evaluated in 2 categories.
- Category 1: Products for children under the age of 3, products applied to the eye area, products applied to mucous membranes
- Category 2: Other products
