Allergen Screening for Personal Care Products

Within the scope of cosmetic safety assessment, it is aimed to detect and determine the amounts of substances defined as common fragrance allergens with the fragrance allergen screening test. Fragrance ingredients used as perfume ingredients can cause allergic contact dermatitis, pigmented cosmetic dermatitis, and photosensitivity. Fragrance allergen screening test is important in determining allergen fragrance substances that should be specified in the label information in terms of consumer health.

Defines the requirement that any of the 26 substances listed in regulation 1223/2009 in Europe be included in the label ingredient list. According to the regulation, if perfume allergens are higher than 0.01% in cosmetic products such as soap, shampoo and shower gel, it must be stated on the label. If the product in question is a permanent cosmetic product such as a skin cream, it should be stated on the label if it is higher than 0.001%.
